Lautaro Martinez’s younger brother Jano has revealed that his elder brother almost chose to pursue a career in basketball rather than a career in football.
“When we were all together in Bahia Blanca, we played two against two on the Villa. It was my father and I against Alan and Lautaro. When Lautaro was 15, he almost chose basketball when my old man asked him to decide between the two sports,” he remarked in an interview with Argentine news outlet Infobae.com.
Jano Martinez, who is an up-and-coming Argentine Basketball star himself, then went on to speak on the pride he has for being the brother of Lautaro, who has truly exploded this year in his second season with Inter.
He then went on to speak on how it felt when Romelu Lukaku agreed to swap jerseys with him.
“We went to Milan to see Lautaro when it was his birthday and we spoke to Romelu because he speaks Spanish very well and I told him I was playing basketball. “Then, through my brother, I told him that I would send him my shirt if he gave me his Inter shirt. The crazy thing is that he received it, took a photo and published it on Instagram.”
In conclusion he spoke on what he and his three brothers are all like together.
“We four are tenacious. I would say that we are very much like warriors. We all have a very strong characters. Lautaro is impulsive and I’m the same. I protest a lot.”
Lautaro joined Inter in the Summer of 2018 from Superliga Argentina outfit Racing Club in a circa €20 million deal and now finds himself as one of the highest rated strikers in the world. This season the 22-year-old Argentine international has scored 16 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions.
