Inter striker Lautaro Martinez was rested in the Argentine national team’s friendly clash with the United Arab Emirates yesterday due to a minor knock.

This according to Argentine news outlet Ole, via FCInterNews, who also report that Nerazzurri foward Joaquin Correa was not quite in his best condition despite having played as a substitute for the entire second half.

Martinez was not included in the Albiceleste’s squad for yesterday’s match, but this was nothing more than a precaution.

The 25-year-old was carrying a minor knock, and the decision was that the best thing for his condition in the World Cup would be to rest him for the warm-up friendly rather than looking to get minutes into his legs through participation in the match.

Meanwhile, Ole also reports that Correa was not quite at his physical best.

The 28-year-old Nerazzurri forward had no trouble playing in the second half, where he got on the scoresheet in a 5-0 win for Argentina, but he was not quite at his best physically.
