Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has said that Romelu Lukaku was happy at Inter but then must have had a change of heart, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media last night.

Speaking to Sport Mediaset after the 2-0 win over Spezia on Wednesday night, via FCInternews, Lautaro Martinez first explained that Lionel Messi used to speak to him about his situation at Inter and Lautaro Martines emphasised that he is happy at the club.

“We had talked a lot with Messi in the national team and he always asked me how my situation was at Inter. But I was calm, we often talked with the club to find an agreement and I’m happy to be here.”

The Argentine striker also talked about the decision that Romelu Lukaku took in the summer to leave the team and join Chelsea in the Premier League.

“They are personal choices. He was happy here, but obviously he felt like leaving. Now we are here and we want to give our best for Inter.”

Lautaro Martinez recently signed a new contract at Inter that will keep him at the club until 2026. Until that deal was signed it looked like there was a real chance he could leave the club.

Romelu Lukaku’s time at Chelsea so far has been marked with injuries but he is fit again now.
