Inter striker Lautaro Martinez was called up by Lionel Scaloni for Argentina’s two World Cup qualifier matches against Ecuador and Bolivia, according to an official announcement tweet yesterday.

Lautaro has scored three goals and provided one assist in his first three games this season, scoring in each game. The player has formed a formidable partnership with Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku and managed to stay with the Nerazzurri, despite the strong interest from Barcelona.

The 23-year-old Argentinian made 49 appearances across all competitions last season for the Nerazzurri, for a total of 3595 minutes. In that time, he scored 21 goals and provided seven assists.

The player made his Argentina debut in 2018 and has performed well for his national team, scoring nine goals and providing one assist in 17 appearances.
