Inter Still Transitioning From Ivan Perisic Back To Romelu Lukaku As Their Key Man, Italian Media Suggest
Inter are still finding their feet with Romelu Lukaku as their decisive influence after at the same time losing Ivan Perisic who had been their key man last season.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who suggest that the Belgian has effectively replaced Perisic as the team’s difference-maker, and that they have not yet adjusted to the shift in their centre of gravity.
Lukaku’s departure from Inter sent shock waves through the team and raised the question of who would be able to have the kind of influence that he did on matches, and the answer came as something of a surprise with Perisic having been the team’s outstanding player all season.
The Croat was close to faultless on both sides of the ball for long stretches, and gave the team their most consistent outlet in the final third.
Now, Perisic is on his way having left for Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer, but Lukaku is back, and so the team are once again getting used to having him as their main outlet.
There is little doubting Lukaku’s quality in the final third, but this does not mean that it’s a given that the team can make the adjustment to him as their focal point seamlessly and quickly.
