Transfer expert Matteo Moretto says Inter have taken some ‘concrete steps forward’ in pursuing Jonathan David, who won’t extend with Lille and has also been monitored by Barcelona and Newcastle.
Inter are keeping a close eye on Canada international David. According to Football Italia transfer expert Matteo Moretto, the 24-year-old has already decided not to extend his expiring contract with Lille.
Moretto wrote in his latest Daily Briefing column for Caught Offside that Inter ‘have taken some concrete steps forward in recent weeks, but competition is fierce.’
Barcelona and Newcastle are reported to be monitoring the Canada striker, but more Premier League clubs are expected to join the race in the coming weeks.
Although available as a free agent, Moretto warns that David’s purchase will be expensive due to salary requests and agent commissions.
Moretto adds that there are currently no ongoing negotiations between David’s entourage and any other club, as the striker solely focuses on his performances with the Ligue 1 side.
David has netted eight goals in 13 Lille appearances this term.
