Inter snatched a point away to an energetic Genoa, missing an opportunity to extend their lead at the top.

It was high-flying opening 45 minutes in Genoa. The hosts poured the pressure on Inter, but it was the unlikely scorer Marko Arnautović that stemmed the tide for the visitors.

The Austrian pounced on a deflected shot by tapping home from point-blank range to quiet the raucous crowd.

It appeared the away side would sneak down the tunnel with a half-time lead, but Genoa found the equaliser they perhaps deserved when Radu Drăgușin headed home from a set-piece to reclaim parity.

The fireworks subsided after the restart however, as both sides struggled to carve out flurries of chances.

While the draw as likely the deserved outcome, neither side will happy after chances were spurned in the first half.

For Inter, they remain top of the pile in Serie A but miss a chance to extend their lead to seven points over chasers Juventus, who have a game in hand.
