This match was previously postponed when Inter refused to play due to the COVID-19 pandemic and although they should have been disqualified for refusing to play, tournament organisers UEFA kept them in the tournament and rearranged the fixture for the above date.

“We’ve been back on the pitch for some time, logically supporting the first team with all our players. We have to thank the club for allowing us to return. to work after a few difficult months, meet all together and prepare for the next matches,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, earlier on today.

He was then asked how prepared the team are from a psychological and physcial point of view ahead of the match and what the UEFA Youth League means to him and his team.

“On a psychological level there is a desire to play, while on a physical level we have already been preparing for a while. The UEFA Youth League is a competition that we particularly care about, we arrive psyched up to do our part.”

Madonna proceeded to share his thoughts on their opponents who will certainly be no pushovers for them.

“They are perhaps the most dangerous team in the competition. They won their league last year and several players made their debut in the first team.

“They are strong and organized, but there are many unknowns due to the forced stop. We will enjoy the match and will go to Nyon and try to win. It doesn’t always happen that you get to play such important games, it is a moment to make the most of and we know it very well.”

In conclusion Madonna spoke on what is needed for young players to be able to grow.

“Training and matches are needed for young players to grow, they must enter into the perspective of trying to improve and interpret every training session as much as possible.

“Competitions such as the UEFA Youth League give us the opportunity to compete with major European clubs, see where we are and which guys are ready to face big challenges “
