Inter President Steven Zhang has scheduled individual meetings with the Nerazzurri squad on Monday to negotiate wage cuts, as he battles growing financial worries at the club.

As reported by Corriere della Sera, Zhang is looking to bring the €220 million wage bill down by 10-15% over the coming weeks, with a reduction of €30m.

In order to do so, the Suning man will meet each player on a one-to-one basis and propose a two-month reduction in salary, or a deferral of wages.

The players will be free to refuse any proposals but Zhang will work to convince them for the good of the club, as he attempts to bring spending down to a more sustainable level.

It is felt that the players are unhappy with the proposals but may accept a deferral rather than reduction, as they did with wages for November and December.

Meanwhile, Inter’s finances have also been hit by an inability to reach an agreement with former coach Luciano Spalletti and will pay the final months of his contract, set to expire this summer, despite sacking him in 2019.
