Inter president Steven Zhang should make his long-awaited return to Milan next week, according to a leading Italian broadcaster today.

Sky Sport Italia said Zhang’s arrival in Italy would help Antonio Conte receive the ‘clarity’ he called for last night after the Nerazzurri’s 1-1 draw at Spezia.

Conte has everything running smoothly on the pitch, with Inter 10 points clear of AC Milan at the top of Serie A, but the club have been on a rollercoaster ride behind the scenes.

Inter’s boss wants to understand the club’s future plans so that everyone can decide how best to move forward.

The Nerazzurri’s owners Suning were in talks to sell the club in January, the report explained, only for negotiations to fall through.

Zhang will need to clarify upon his return how he intends to solve Inter’s liquidity problems, be it with a loan deal (as was reported elsewhere today) or a new minority shareholder to replace LionRock Capital.

Inter were forced to block all investments on the transfer market last year, but Conte remained in charge after holding clear-the-air talks at Villa Bellini.

Suning had to take ‘two steps backwards’ to keep Inter financially stable and now it is time to find out what they intend to do going forwards.
