Inter president Steven Zhang will have a lot on his plate when he returns to Milan in the coming weeks, as explained by a report in Italy today.

Tuttosport’s print edition confirmed Zhang was ready to fly back to Italy as soon as the rules regarding travel from China were relaxed.

Inter are nine points away from securing the Serie A title after last night’s 1-1 draw at Spezia and Zhang wants to be there to celebrate the Scudetto in first person.

Suning would in fact become the first overseas owners ever to become Serie A champions, or indeed win a trophy in Italy of any kind.

Zhang also has several issues to sort when he returns to Milan though, especially after Inter’s withdrawal from the European Super League project.

Inter must secure a new shareholder to solve the club’s financial problems, while also repaying their bonds worth €375 million and finding a new main shirt sponsor to replace Pirelli.

Zhang will then need to switch his attention to Inter’s sporting future, with Antonio Conte, Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin all out of contract in 2022.

Inter have several players awaiting contract extensions too, such as Lautaro Martinez and Alessandro Bastoni (whose renewals are ready to be finalised) but also Nicolo Barella, Marcelo Brozovic and Danilo D’Ambrosio.

Ausilio wants Zhang to exercise Inter’s option to extend D’Ambrosio’s contract for one more season.
