Inter President Beppe Marotta has underlined the club’s ambition to build a new stadium in the San Siro area under Oaktree’s leadership. During his latest interview, as reported by Calciomercato, Marotta addressed one of the major talking points.

Inter and Milan are keen to build a brand-new stadium in the San Siro district. However, negotiations with local authorities are progressing slowly. That said, a potentially pivotal meeting took place on Tuesday.

Both clubs sent representatives to open discussions with Alessandro Giuli, the Minister of Culture. The Minister of Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, also attended the meeting. Marotta wasn’t present. However, Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello and Oaktree managers Alejandro Cano and Katherine Ralph were there.

Milan President Paolo Scaroni and David Castelblanco from RedBird represented the Rossoneri in a session attended by Giuseppe Sala, the Mayor of Milan, and Emanuela Carpani, Milan’s Superintendent.

First of all, it’s a historic event. Two ministers, Giuli and Abodi, sat at the table with the mayor and the two ownerships,” the Inter bigwig said. “It’s a sign that politics also wants to speed up the process. Oaktree considers the new stadium a strategic asset, as it can generate new revenue for the club’s sustainability.

It also fosters a sense of belonging and loyalty, ensuring extra-football activities and bringing fans closer to our club,” Marotta added.

While waiting for the resolution, Inter must focus on the upcoming challenges. They’ll meet Juventus in the famous Derby d’Italia on Sunday at Giuseppe Meazza.
