Inter Milan will continue their search for a replacement for Paris Saint-Germain-bound Milan Skriniar and have explored several options to replace the Slovakian.

According to the Daily Mail, the Serie A giants have now switched their attention to out-of-favour Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.

Inter have enquired about the possibility of taking the England international on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

However, per the report, Maguire will prefer to hold off on any possible departure until the end of the season despite being unhappy with his current playing time.

The former Leicester City man is prepared to wait for his chance to impress and force his way back into the manager’s plans in the second half of the season.

Maguire has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, with manager Erik ten Hag preferring a defensive pairing of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

The duo have done well to help United shoot up the Premier League table and establish themselves in the top four race with their stellar performances.

Ten Hag has also sometimes preferred Luke Shaw, naturally a left-back, at centre-back, overlooking Maguire, who has had to settle for a place on the bench.

The 29-year-old has only started two Premier League games since the turn of the new year, prompting potential suitors to believe a deal could be possible this month.

However, Ten Hag is unwilling to sanction any departures this month as his side competes across four tournaments this term, especially with United unable to sign any replacements.

Inter’s interest in Maguire comes mere hours after their earlier reported interest in Victor Lindelof was rebuffed by the Red Devils.

Lindelof has also found playing time hard to come by at Old Trafford since Ten Hag became manager. But United would rather wait until next summer before sanctioning any deals for Maguire and Lindelof.

Inter are still looking at several other options to reinforce their defence, with AS Roma’s Chris Smalling, whose contract expires next summer, still on their radar.
