Sebastiano Esposito is confident he can make a name for himself at Venezia after signing on loan from Inter for the rest of the season.

Esposito spent the first half of the season on loan at Venezia’s Serie B promotion rivals SPAL, but he fell out of favour in Ferrara and the deal was cut short last week, with Inter looking to give him more game time.

Several second-tier clubs lined up to take the forward on loan, but Paolo Zanetti’s side won the race and Esposito explained why he chose the Lagunari in his presentation press conference today.

“I’m here in Venice to give my contribution in helping the team to improve and I chose this club because the club and the coach made an excellent impression on me, making me feel immediately at home from the first moment we spoke,” Esposito said.

“I was going through a difficult moment at SPAL but they immediately made me feel their confidence, making me understand that with this shirt I could do important things.

“Now it’s my turn to make this confidence grow even more.”

Esposito then spoke on his love for football and where it came from.

“Since we were children, my brother and I grew up with football in our hearts, also thanks to my Dad who passed on this great passion to us.”

In conclusion, the Italy under-21 international addressed the fact that many are watching him and how the pressure to perform can actually be a good thing.

“I believe that there is nothing more beautiful than the fact I was lucky enough to play in one of the most important clubs in the world,” Esposito said, in reference to his 15 first-team appearances with Inter last season.

“Unfortunately or fortunately, despite being young I know I have eyes on me, but the pressure is part of the game and you have to know how to live with it.

“The pressure can also be useful though, because it makes you feel important and pushes you to improve yourself day after day.”

Esposito, who is under contract with Inter through to the end of the 2024-25 season, made 13 appearances during his loan spell with SPAL, in which time he scored one goal.

He made his debut for Venezia as a second-half substitute on Saturday during their 2-0 loss at Pordenone.
