Michele di Gregorio will be a Monza player next season after an agreement was reached to sign him from Inter, according to reports.

This from today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Il Giornale, which states that Monza owner Silvio Berlusconi has reached an agreement to extend the young goalkeeper’s loan at Monza with an obligation to move permanent in the event of Monza’s promotion to Serie A.

The two clubs have been in talks to extend the player’s stay in Monza in the past weeks with a deal desired by all parties, and the agreement marks a major step towards the deal being finalized.

Di Gregorio’s loan renewal could be followed by that of midfielder Lorenzo Pirola, another young Inter player who spent last season on loan at Monza.

It is thought that there is interest in Pirola from other Italian clubs, but the positive outcome to negotiations over di Gregorio could point to a similar end to the Pirola transfer saga.
