Inter-owned goalkeeper Andrei Radu knows that his costly error in the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 loss to Bologna in April was a low point for him, but he hopes to get his career back on track on loan with Cremonese during the upcoming season.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 25-year-old reflected on the impact that the mistake had on him and also talked about his aims helping newly-promoted Cremonese this season.

Radu joins Cremonese on a season-long loan for the upcoming campaign, where he is likely to be the first-choice keeper, something which he never was at Inter.

The Romanian barely featured last season, but suffered a horrorshow in the fateful match where he stood in for an injured Samir Handanovic and allowed Bologna to score a winner in a contest which already looked to be getting away from the Nerazzurri, and along with it the Scudetto.

“That day I was down,” he said of the day after the match, “it was a very difficult time for me. I remember Samir’s words well.”

“He was right, in these moments you have to get up and work even harder,” he continued. “Put it behind you and learn from your mistakes.”

Of his loan destination Cremonese, Radu stated that “I’m at a team that has a great desire to leave their mark, who’ve returned to Serie A after 26 years away, with great determination.”

“I’m also here to be a part of that,” he continued. “And for me personally, to prove my worth, something I’ve been unable to do over the past two seasons.”

Asked if he considers Inter to be Serie A title favourites, Radu responded, “Absolutely, yes. I hope so.”

And as far as his long-term future with the Nerazzurri, the 25-year-old reflected that “In the meantime, I have to focus on the present.”

He expects “A very important challenge for me after two difficult seasons. The results will come one match at a time, and then I just have to stay on track and work hard.”
