Inter-owned defender Zinho Vanheusden has found his path to potentially being a first-team player at the Nerazzurri continually blocked by injuries.
This is highlighted by Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who note the role that injuries and other misfortunes have played in keeping the 23-year-old from really hitting his stride.
Vanheusden had already suffered two serious ACL injuries before the start of this season.
The Belgian had shown plenty of flashes of his talent in loan spells with Standard Liege which showed why Inter had made a significant investment in him.
After a stop-start campaign on loan with Genoa last time around, the Belgian made the switch on loan to AZ Alkmaar this time around.
However, once again injuries have been a theme of Vanheusden’s time with the Eredivisie club.
This time it was a broken foot, caused by a stamp from Utrecht striker Bas Dost, which has ruled the 23-year-old out of significant time playing for AZ.
Now, Vanheusden will be fit on the other side of the World Cup break.
However, it will remain to be seen if the 23-year-old can put all of his injury woes behind him and really kick on to show why Inter signed him in the first place.
