Inter are dealing with a few injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s Derby d’Italia against Juventus, but none are too worrisome. They should be in full force against their archrivals. Marcus Thuram, Marko Arnautovic, and Alessandro Bastoni left early versus Fiorentina but are all expected to make it for the next game, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The French striker has been dealing with an ankle contusion for about a week. The tests ruled out lesions. The two forwards trained on the side on Wednesday and Thursday. They should be back with the group for at least the final session.
Bastoni was simply fatigued against the Viola. He was a full-go in training a couple of days later. Inter also welcomed back Federico Dimarco. He didn’t feature in the two matches against Fiorentina due to a lingering illness.
Compared to Monday’s match, the Nerazzurri will also be able to count on Denzel Dumfries, who was suspended due to yellow-card accumulation. They have a clean week of training for the first time in ages.
Barring unforeseen setbacks, Inter will have all their main men against Juventus. Since Simone Inzaghi won’t need to manage energies, he’ll only have to make a couple of choices. Francesco Acerbi had a strong performance in the last fixture in his first start in two months, but Stefan De Vrij had been convincing for a few weeks. Thuram will begin on the bench only if he’s still in pain.
Instead, the Bianconeri will likely rotate a little as the Inter game is sandwiched between the two legs of the Champions League playoff. Nicolò Savona, Teun Koopmeiners, and Francisco Conceiçao could get the nod.
