Inter are one of around fifty European clubs at risk of coming under sanctions for having violated Financial Fair Play from UEFA.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri noted in their shareholders’ report that the club could be at risk under FFP due to financial restrictions during the pandemic.
The Nerazzurri have been hard-hit by the sharp decline in revenues brought upon by the pandemic, and the club has had to restrict their spending to get on track during the period.
However, it could turn out to be the case that this hasn’t been enough, according to the Gazzetta, with the club acknowledging to shareholders that there could be sanctions to come.
Inter would not be alone in facing this possibility, however, as they pointed out that a significant number of clubs are also at risk due to their spending during the pandemic.
