Newcastle United do hold an interest in signing Inter’s Nicolo Barella and an intermediary has tested the waters for the move, but the Nerazzurri are not looking to sell the midfielder this summer.
La Gazzetta dello Sport have provided their take on the news regarding Newcastle’s links with a move for Barella. They state that while the Magpies have not put forward any offer for the midfielder, they have informed the Nerazzurri through an intermediary that they want to sign the Azzurri star.
Through the same intermediary, they put forward a fee of around €60 million – something which The Telegraph’s report touched upon. But that offer doesn’t interest Inter at all, even though this is considered to be a mere start in the saga.
Inter consider Barella to be ‘non-transferrable’ and despite their need to earn some cash this summer, they don’t want to sell him. Barella will only consider leaving if a ‘top club’ comes calling for him – those like Manchester United, City, Chelsea or Liverpool. There is still a chance that Newcastle come back and increase their offer for the midfielder.
