Following Sunday evening’s 2-2 draw against Cagliari, Inter are no longer able to match the all-time Serie A points record in a single season, which was set with 102 points by Antonio Conte’s Juventus in 2013-14.

Now with six matches to go of the 2023-24 campaign following the conclusion of the 32nd round of Serie A fixtures, Inter can finish with a maximum of 101 points if they win all of their remaining matches of the season.

Simone Inzaghi needed for his side to end the campaign with a perfect record if they were to beat Conte and Juve’s now 10-year-old record.

Inter are still on course to record the second-highest ever points tally for a single season. The tally to beat there is 97 points, which the Nerazzurri set themselves in 2006-07 under Roberto Mancini.

In order to claim second prize in the all-time points standings, Inter need another 15 points to move clear of their previous record. That means that they can afford to lose one game, but that they must win five of the last six.
