The Reds have been struggling this season with their 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday seeing them remain in seventh position in the Premier League table.

A number of factors have been blamed for huge dip in form this term after narrowly missing out on an unprecedented Quadruple at the end of last season. Their midfielder has taken a lot of flak this campaign and Jurgen Klopp and his recruitment team are determined to reinforce in the summer transfer window.

Jude Bellingham is believed to be their top target in that position for the summer but Italian publication Calciomercato insists that Inter Milan’s Barella ‘is at the top of Jurgen Klopp’s list to reinforce’ his midfield area.

The report adds that Klopp has ‘never hidden a weakness for the Nerazzurri number 23 and is now considering presenting an offer that could make president Steven Zhang waver’.

However, Liverpool could have to overcome some obstacles with Barella ‘not on the market’ and the ‘idea’ is that the Italy international and Inter ‘continue together for many more years’.

The report continues by saying that ‘everyone has a price’ with Inter valuing Barella at €70-75m and it is a ‘message that will soon arrive loud and clear’ to Liverpool.

LIVERPOOL STILL INTERESTING Borussia Dortmund midfielder Bellingham is still interested in moving to Liverpool this summer despite their Premier League struggles, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.

“I heard that Jude Bellingham is keeping a very close eye on what Liverpool are doing at the moment. I’ve been told nobody should think he’s a player that wouldn’t go to Liverpool because of the difficult situation they’re in,” Falk told Caught Offside.

“It’s the other way around – he’s actually the kind of guy who would love to go to a club where he can change their fortunes.

“At Liverpool, he sees that the club is in need of him and that he can build something there, so that’s why the side remains an interesting option for him.

“As you see in the Premier League, they’re not massively far away from the Champions League places but it’s important to note that Champions League qualification isn’t a deal-breaker for Bellingham. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt Liverpool’s chances!”

THE RACE IS ON Arsenal have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Celta Vigo youngster Gabri Veiga, according to reports in Spain.

The Spain under-21 international is enjoying a breakthrough season at the La Liga club and has contributed six goals and two assists in 21 league matches this term.

That form has caught the eye of the Gunners and Red Devils as both the Premier League sides look to improve the depth of their squad ahead of next season.

Despite not wanting to allow one of their best players to leave, there is a feeling at Celta Vigo that they will be able to get a club-record fee if the 20-year-old was to leave.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested in his signature with Veiga tipped to make his first senior appearance for Spain in the near future.

AND THE REST… Manchester City are keen to add Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister to their squad in the summer…Marcelo Brozovic could be sold by Inter Milan in the summer, with Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid interested in the 30-year-old…Paris Saint-Germain could let at least one of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar leave the club in the summer as the club looks to reduce its wage bill because of Uefa financial fair play…AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud is open to a move back to the Premier League with London sides West Ham, Fulham, Crystal Palace and Brentford all potential destinations…Manchester United are plotting a move for Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong.
