This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

18-year-old Pio Esposito is currently on loan at Spezia. He has been playing for the Ligurians this season after joining on loan last summer.

This is Esposito’s first experience in senior football.

The young striker had shone playing for Inter’s youth teams over the last few seasons. And so the decision was made that it is time for him to take the step up to senior football.

And while nothing has been easy for Pio Esposito at Spezia, there have been positive signs.

The Inter-owned striker scored for the Ligurians in a 2-1 win over Venezia on Friday.

That goal was nothing less than crucial for Spezia’s season. It allows them to stay in Serie B, in a season where erratic form has meant their survival has been anything but a guarantee.

Inter Won’t Let Francesco Pio Esposito Leave Permanently This Summer

Now the question will be what comes next for Esposito.

According to the Gazzetta, the plan at Inter is not to sell the young striker on a permanent basis.

Naturally, Esposito does not have a place in the Nerazzurri’s first team at this stage. He is still far too young and lacking experience.

However, Esposito is young enough that Inter do not yet know what their plans for him are, considering his high potential.

Therefore, the likeliest outcome would be another loan.

Inter could send Esposito out to a team in Serie B for another season. Alternatively, the 18-yewar-old could join a team in the lower half of Serie A.

The priority, of course, would be for Esposito to have regular playing time.

That will be one of the main factors that Inter consider in making a decision about Esposito’s future. As well as the player himself.
