Inter Milan wingback Robin Gosens feels that the Nerazzurri will give absolutely everything and more in next weekend’s Champions League final against Man City.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI Sport, via FCInterNews, the German looked ahead to Istanbul next Saturday.
Inter are now less than a weekend away from their date with destiny.
The Nerazzurri will play their final match of the season against Premier League champions Manchester City. At stake is European club football’s biggest prize.
Clearly, both sides will know just how much this means.
From Inter’s perspective, this represents an opportunity to finish what has been a rollercoaster season by writing history. The Nerazzurri have won Europe’s top honour three times in their history, most recently in 2010.
Meanwhile, City have not yet won the Champions League. The Cityzens have come close, however, reaching the final once and the semifinals on two occasions.
Pep Guardiola’s men will be hoping that this season can represent the chance to finally turn their domestic dominance into European glory.
In a match of this importance, more than just technical quality will be needed.
Both sets of players are sure to be enormously motivated.
Asked if Inter can have a chance at winning in Istanbul, Gosens replied “Of course. If not, it would be better to stay home.”
“There’s one football match to go, and there are plenty of examples of teams who give their absolute best when things get tough.”
“We go to Istanbul knowing that we have to suffer,” the 28-year-old continued. “But also that we deserve to be in this final.”
“We will give more than everything on the pitch,” Gosens said. “For many players this final comes once in their career, and for many others it only ever remains a dream.”
“We will go there with the guarantee that we will leave our lives our on the pitch, then we will see what happens.”
