Inter wingback Federico Dimarco is expecting that the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash against relegation-battling Salernitana this evening will be anything but easy.

Speaking to InterTV, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old stressed that the Granata will be very motivated by the fact that they are playing for points to try and ensure their survival in Serie A.

Inter and Salernitana currently sit at opposite ends of the Serie A table, although both will see their positions as being risky in entirely different ways.

The Nerazzurri know that if they keep dropping points at the rate that they have been doing, they are at serious risk of missing out on Champions League football next season.

The Granata, on the other hand, know that even though they are a few points clear of the drop zone, all it would take is a couple bad results at this stage of the season for them to suddenly find themselves in danger of getting relegated to Serie B at the end of the campaign.

Accordingly, Inter wingback Dimarco feels that the stakes for this match will be very high for both sides, and it should lead to a tough and intense confrontation.

The 25-year-old anticipates that this will be “A tough match, because they’re trying to stay safe in Serie A, and we need these points.”

Regarding his own condition following an injury that had kept him out of the Nerazzurri’s last league match against Fiorentina, Dimarco replied that “I’m feeling good, I’m improving one match at a time.”

Inter will need three points out of this match to bounce back following the shock of three consecutive defeats in Serie A against Spezia, Juventus, and Fiorentina.

The team’s performance in Tuesday’s 1-1 Coppa Italia semifinal first leg away to Juventus suggests that the team could be getting back on track, but they need to build on it at the Arechi this evening.
