Inter Milan will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Torino at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Saturday.

Following a morale-damaging 3-2 Derby della Madonnina loss to AC Milan, Simone Inzaghi’s side slumped to a 2-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich in midweek Champions League action.

However, it’s worth noting that the Nerazzurri were pre-match outsiders in both those clashes, so Torino’s upcoming visit to Lombardy could offer a fresh start to last season’s Serie A runners-up.

Indeed, they boast a dominant all-time record against their fellow Serie A founders (W71, D51, L38), spanning back to January 1930, including a narrow 1-0 victory in this corresponding fixture last term.

With the Inter fixtures coming thick and fast these days due to their Champions League commitments, Inzaghi has no time to rest his key players, which could hand Torino a chance in this one.

Since fatigue is catching up with Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez, Ivan Juric’s watertight backline may provide a backbone for the visitors’ potential success at Meazza.

The Granata have conceded one goal or fewer in four of their opening five Serie A outings this term, which has been the case in both last season’s league H2Hs (D1, L1).

But if Torino are to claim their first top-flight triumph over Inter since January 2019, their uneventful attacking line-up will have to come up with the goods.

Match Preview

Inter Milan

Despite their lacklustre performances last week, Inter have turned Meazza into a fortress, racking up six consecutive Serie A home wins via multi-goal margins.

That should feel under-pressure Inzaghi with confidence as he aims to avoid becoming only the fourth-ever Inter head coach to lose three of the first six Serie A matches in a season.

If that’s not enough to encourage the hosts, then their six-match unbeaten league streak against visiting Torino should do the trick (W5, D1).

Torino

Don’t let Torino’s eye-catching run of three victories from their five Serie A outings this season fool you (D1, L1) – each triumph came against newly-promoted sides.

But after beating Lecce 1-0 at home last time out, the Granata could win back-to-back top-flight games for the first time since January, so motivation should not be lacking in Juric’s corner.

West Ham United loanee Nikola Vlasic could be the catalyst to give Torino their first Serie A win at Meazza since 2016 after netting in his last three league appearances for the club.

Inter Milan vs Torino Prediction

While Inter’s disappointing spell of form suggests the home crowd could experience another frustrating evening, Inzaghi’s men have had Torino’s number in recent years.

So we back the Nerazzurri to take advantage of their stellar H2H record to bolster their spirits ahead of their Champions League trip to Viktoria Plzen.

But don’t expect them to run over their visitors.
