Inter Milan trio Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, and Davide Frattesi will be “untouchable” for Italy under Gennaro Gattuso.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They also report that striker Francesco Pio Esposito could get his chance.
Gennaro Gattuso took over as coach of the Italian national team this summer.
The former AC Milan midfielder replaced Luciano Spalletti following a disappointing spell in charge of the Azzurri for the veteran coach.
Gattuso will have his work cut out for him trying to restore confidence after a slew of poor recent results.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, though, there are three players who will figure just as prominently under Gattuso as they had under Spalletti.
Inter midfielders Nicolo Barella and Davide Frattesi had been among the first names on the teamsheet for Italy under Spalletti.
And according to the Gazzetta, Gattusso isn’t planning on reducing either midfielder’s role.
Similarly, the newspaper anticipate, the former midfielder also wants to make Alessandro Bastoni the linchpin of the Azzurri defense.
Meanwhile, the Gazzetta report, young Inter striker Francesco Pio Esposito could also get his chance for the national team.
Centre-forward has been something of a problem position for Italy in recent years. Therefore, the 20-year-old’s form has hardly gone unnoticed by Gattuso.
