Inter Milan are ready to sell wingback Robin Gosens to Union Berlin in order to raise cash to sign Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report the Nerazzurri want €20 million for the former Atalanta wingback’s signature.
Union Berlin are reportedly making an effort to sign Gosens this summer.
The Berlin side are gearing up for their first season in the Champions League after a shock fourth place finish in the Bundesliga.
This will mean reinforcements in the transfer market. And Gosens is one big name who Union are ready to splash the cash on.
Inter have demanded €20 million for the 28-year-old, who joined from Atalanta in January 2021. According to the Gazzetta, Union are ready to break their transfer record to pay that.
Despite having only joined the Nerazzurri last January, Gosens has been the subject of persistent transfer rumours. These have come both last summer and the January window of the season just gone.
The former Atalanta has reportedly been targeted by all of Wolfsburg, Borussia Monchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.
Despite having found more playing time at Inter in recent months, Gosens is still second-choice behind Federico Dimarco.
Accordingly, the Nerazzurri could very well listen to offers for the German.
The interest is coming in from the Bundesliga this summer. The Gazzetta confirm that Union are pushing, whilst Wolfsburg are also thinking of reigniting their pursuit.
Meanwhile, Premier League side Bournemouth have also been linked.
Should Inter accept an offer for Gosens, they know what they’re going to do with the fee.
The Nerazzurri are very keen to sign Sassuolo star Frattesi this summer. Talks with both the player and with the Neroverdi have progressed quickly.
However, a big money deal for the 23-year-old will still be a financial strain on the Nerazzurri.
A sale of Gosens would unlock things significantly, however.
Inter do not want to stall in talks for Frattesi for too long. They certainly learned the hard way what this can lead to last summer. Juventus swooped to sign Bremer from Torino despite a very prolonged Inter pursuit.
The Nerazzurri want to avoid any similar situations this time around.
Accordingly, Gosens could be the player to make way so Inter can put the finishing touches on the signing of Frattesi.
