At the moment, Inter’s focus remains on the pitch.

There are four more matches to go this season. Therefore, the Nerazzurri aren’t yet taking their foot off the gas.

Inter may have already wrapped up the Serie A title – but there is still a desire to finish the campaign in the same manner that they’ve played all season.

Therefore, contract talks are not active with any players in the Inter squad.

These would be seen as an unnecessary distraction.

But as the end of the season approaches, Inter will be ready to ramp up negotiations regarding several key players’ contracts.

The Gazzetta reports that the talks will resume at pace in the middle of the current month.

Inter To Ramp Up Contract Talks In Mid-May – Dumfries The Priority

The likes of Inter captain Lautaro Martinez and midfielder Nicolo Barella are currently on contracts that expire at the end of June 2026.

But the Nerazzurri are determined to see both sign extensions.

The priority is to have both Martinez and Barella put pen to paper before the start of next season.

Therefore, Inter will resume talks with the pair’s agent starting in mid-May.

However, these are not the most pressing negotiations from Inter’s perspective.

Dumfries, unlike Martinez and Barella, sees his current deal expire at the end of next June.

Therefore, Inter are wary of the possibility of the Dutchman going into the final year of his deal. This could potentially mean losing the player on a free transfer.

The Nerazzurri either want to extend Dumfries’s contract, or sell him this summer.

Therefore, the decisive negotiations must take place soon. That way, Inter can have clarity on the situation as the summer transfer window starts up.

The decisive talks should take place in mid-May, in any event.
