Next summer, Inter will be among the 32 teams fighting for the Club World Cup.

Along with Juventus, the Nerazzurri are one of two teams from Serie A in the competition.

FIFA have changed up the format of the competition.

That means a few things. First of all, the Club World Cup will now take place every four years rather than annually.

And secondly, the competition will take place in the summer, after the end of the European club season, rather than midway through the European campaign.

And FIFA have also expanded the format of the Club World Cup.

Therefore, there will be a group stage in which each team faces three different opponents once. This is essentially identical to the format that the World Cup for national team has used for the past few decades.

Today, FIFA held the draw for the group stage of next summer’s Club World Cup.

Inter went into the draw in Pot B. That pot consisted entirely of European teams.

The aim of the draw for FIFA was to avoid teams from the same confederation facing in the group stage as much as feasible.

However, since twelve of the 32 participating teams will be from UEFA, some groups contain two European teams.

For Inter, though, they will not be facing any teams from UEFA in the group stage.

From Pot 1, Inter have drawn River Plate. Meanwhile, from Pot 3, the Nerazzurri will face Monterrey.

And lastly, from Pot 4, Inter have drawn Urawa Red Diamonds.
