Transfer News: Inter Milan could go after Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek

According to transfer news from Football Italia, Inter Milan have shown interest in signing Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek. The Serie A champions are concerned about the health of their playmaker Christian Eriksen after what happened last week and are looking at possible replacements.

The 24-year-old was United’s marquee signing last summer and arrived at Old Trafford after a successful spell at Ajax Amsterdam. He got off to an excellent start by scoring on his debut but has struggled since.

Van de Beek ended the season as an unused substitute as United lost to Villarreal on penalties in the Europa League final. In all, he made 36 appearances all season, of which just 21 came off the bench. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The footballing world stood still as Christian Eriksen battle for his life last week after collapsing during Denmark vs Finland game. The player suffered a cardiac arrest as it was revealed but now he is doing well. His surgery has gone well and there will be an implant to help his heart rate.

Now, the player’s career has been thrown into question after the whole incident. Serie A has strict rules on players not being allowed to play with implants. That has led Inter to look at Donny van de Beek as a replacement for the Danish playmaker. United are expected to ask for €30m in case they do sell him.

The Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford as one of the rising young players in Eredivisie. Van de Beek has his best years ahead of him. Letting him go would be premature and United should resist the urge to sell him.
