Inter came about as close to glory as it’s possible to get without actually lifting the Champions League trophy.

Throughout the season, the Nerazzurri seemed to save their best football for the competition.

Even when Inter’s form in Serie A sagged, the team came up with one excellent European performance after another.

This took them all the way to the biggest match within European club football. The Champions League final.

Inter Milan Star Lautaro Martinez Reacts To Disappointment Of UCL Final Loss

In the final against Manchester City, Inter did not go into it as favourites.

The Nerazzurri were up against perhaps the most formidable team in all of Europe.

However, it was an impress performance by the Nerazzurri. They made a mockery of the predictions that it would be an easy victory for City.

Inter were tactically on the mark, and discipline and full of energy throughout.

However, it turned out not to be enough.

Inter were carved open on one occasion during the second half, which was enough to break through.

And the Nerazzurri’s strikers, including Martinez, fluffed their lines in front of goal.

However, Martinez still feels very proud of what they accomplished. And he isn’t lacking any faith that they can do something even better next time around.

He wrote, “”It hurts, it hurts badly.”

“The disappointment from having not brought the trophy home is enormous.”

“We did everything possible to be able to give you this joy, especially to the fans who are always by our side.”

“I’m very proud of this team, because despite the difficulties and the negative moments this season, we’ve always continued to work intensely and in silence to achieve our goals, and to take Inter to the highest stage possible, where it deserves to be based on its historical standing.”

“I can guarantee you, we tried hard.”

“We will come back stronger.”

“Thanks guys, thanks staff, thanks fans, thanks Inter. Lautaro.”
