Inter had the chance to go top of the table heading into the international break.

The Nerazzurri faced off against league leaders Napoli at the San Siro.

Inter’s chances of getting three points looked to be getting slimmer after Napoli scored the opener, with former Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay finishing from a corner.

However, Inter did not let themselves become demoralized.

The Nerazzurri fought their way back into the first half. And they found the equalizer, through a long-range goal by midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.

Inter went into the second half with plenty of confidence and momentum.

And the Nerazzurri’s performance reflected that. They were aggressive, pushing into Napoli’s half and circulating the ball around the Partenopei penalty area with a lot of pace.

There were a few good chances for Inter to score. None moreso than a penalty which Calhanoglu missed – his first miss from the spot for the Nerazzurri.

But the Napoli defense just about held out. The likes of Alessandro Buongiorno and Amir Rrahmani were able to marshal their penalty area.

At the other end, there was only one really notable Napoli chance after McTominay’s goal.

That came right at the end of the match, as substitute Giovanni Simeone blazed over from a glorious position.

Inter and Napoli had to share the points in the end.

It was a result that allowed all of Atalanta, Fiorentina, Lazio, and Juventus to catch up at the top.

But in the view of the Gazzetta, it should have been a different result, Based on Inter’s second half display, they could very easily have taken all three points.
