Inter Milan have suffered a huge setback in their pursuit of Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin, who has chosen Benfica as his next destination.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Benfica have wrapped up the deal for the Ukrainian shot-stopper, agreeing to pay Shakhtar €10 million plus €1m in add-ons.

The Nerazzurri have had Trubin on top of their wishlist throughout this summer as a potential long-term successor to Andre Onana, who sealed a move to Manchester United.

But the negotiations with the Ukrainian outfit proved difficult for the Italian giants, albeit Trubin’s desire to move to the Nerazzurri.

Inter also had an alternative plan of signing the 22-year-old for free when he runs out of contract next summer, but that has also been put to bed.

Nonetheless, the Nerazzurri are on the brink of welcoming Bayern Munich shot-stopper, who is currently in Milan for his medical tests.

Inter have found an agreement with Bayern Munich after tough negotiations for the Swiss goalkeeper, who will move to San Siro on a two-year deal worth €6m.

Sommer is said to have completed the first part of his medical tests today and is expected to sign his contract sooner.

The 34-year-old will be the first choice between the sticks, while Simone Inzaghi wants to bring in two more deputy keepers provided the departures of Samir Handanovic and Alex Cordaz.

After losing out on Trubin, Inter have turned their attention towards Sampdoria’s Emil Audero and Athletico Paranaense’s highly-rated keeper Bento.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri are also expected the announce the signing of Serbian midfielder Lazar Samardzic after striking a deal with Udinese.
