European football always debates about who the best player in the world is. Some will argue that it’s former Paris Saint-Germain standout Kylian Mbappé, while others will say it’s Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.

However, a former player views an Inter Milan star as more valuable than those two. Mbappé’s departure from PSG to join Real Madrid this summer transfer window as a free agent might allow him to cling to the title of the best player in the world.

While Haaland and Mbappé are among the best players in the world, former Argentine standout Mario Kempes sees Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez being more valuable than the two players.

“Lautaro is worth more than Haaland and Mbappé,” Kempes said (h/t Diario AS). “For him, passion counts more than money. There are few ‘9’s like him, he is at the table of the best. And it is good that he has chosen to link up with his team, it is clear that Milan is his home.

“Feeling happy in one place makes all the difference. Then, when he turns 30 and has won other titles as captain, perhaps Lautaro can gain experience elsewhere. But why change now?”

Since arriving at Inter Milan in 2018, Martínez has played in 284 matches across all competitions, scoring 129 goals and registering 43 assists. The Argentine striker has also won two Serie A league titles and two Coppa Italia trophies, while at the international level, he’s won a FIFA World Cup and two Copa América trophies.
