Inter Milan midfielder Lucien Agoume has rejected offers from Rennes, Lille, and Monaco to join Sevilla this summer.
This according to Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo, via FCInterNews.
Now it is only a matter of time. 22-year-old midfielder Agoume is set to join Sevilla for next season.
Agoume had spent the second half of last season on loan with the Andalusians.
Whilst the Frenchman had dealt with an injury not long after arriving in January, after he put that behind him he established a regular place for himself in the Sevilla first team.
Therefore, it was little surprise that the La Liga club wanted to sign Agoume on a permanent basis this summer.
Sevilla declined to exercise a purchase option to sign Agoume at the end of his loan. That would have been for a fee of €8 million.
However, the Andalusians have agreed a deal with Inter. This will see them pay a lower fee of €5 million – but owe 50% of future resale to the Nerazzurri.
Sevilla were not the only club to have shown an interest in signing Agoume, however.
The Spanish club had already beaten the interest of Marseille to sign the Frenchman on loan in January.
Agoume has already had two loan spells back in his native France.
The Inter midfielder was at Brest Ligue 1 in the 2021-22 season, and Troyes in the 2022-23 campaign.
Prior to that, Agoume had spent a season on loan with Spezia in Serie A.
And this summer as well, clubs from Ligue 1 have shown an interest in Agoume’s signature.
Estadio Deportivo report that all of Rennes, Monaco, and Lille put in bids. These could have even been financially superior to Sevilla’s offer.
However, Agoume’s priority now is regular playing time in a familiar environment.
After the second half of last season the Frenchman believes that staying in Seville is the right move for him. Therefore, he rejected the offers from Ligue 1 to return on a permanent basis.
