There is no disguising the fact that Inter have a title race on their hands in Serie A.

Whilst there are still several teams who could claim to have a chance to catch up with the top team teams in the table, particularly AC Milan, it looks to be Inter and Juventus who will fight it out.

The last couple of weekends have seemingly clarified as much.

Both Inter and Juventus have takeen on reigning Italian champions Napoli in the past couple matches.

And the Nerazzurri had done their bit. They produced a statement 3-0 victory away in Naples to continue their ascent at the top of the table.

So it was up to the Bianconeri to respond yesterday.

It would be useless for Inter to pretend that they weren’t interested spectators yesterday evening.

Whilst a Napoli loss was certainly a result that gives Inter more breathing room at the top in terms of their lead on one rival, there is no question regarding which result Inter were hoping for.

The Nerazzurri players were hoping to see Juventus drop points.

A loss or draw from the Bianconeri would mean that Inter would have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Serie A table if they can beat Udinese tonight.

But that’s not what happened.

Instead, Juventus responded to Inter’s win over Napoli by beating the Partenopei themselves.

It wasn’t the most emphatic win. 1-0 was the scoreline that it took for the Bianconeri to eke out a win and go top of the table.

But it means that this evening, Inter need a win just to keep their two-point advantage.

And the squad know it. Yesterday they gathered at the team training ground to watch the match.

And now, they’ve been preparing in the team retreat with that in mind.
