Internationals from the Italy and Austria national teams are set to return to Inter Milan preseason training this week.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who highlight the Nerazzurri’s squad starting to fill up in training.
Tomorrow will be a big day for Inter’s preseason.
Five players will be back from their post-EURO 2024 vacations.
Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco, Matteo Darmian, and Davide Frattesi were all part of the Italy squad that bombed out of the Euros at the round of sixteen stage.
Naturally, this early exit was a disappointment for the Azzurri.
But if there is a silver lining, it is certainly in Inter’s favour. Five key players from the spine of the team will have relatively early returns.
Therefore, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi can count on a much fuller squad already starting tomorrow. He can really start getting the team ready, physically and in terms of tactical chemistry.
Italy were not the only team to go out in the round of sixteen of EURO 2024. So did Austria.
And Austria were captained by Inter striker Marko Arnautovic.
Therefore, the 35-year-old will be right behind the Italian internationals in returning to Nerazzurri training.
The Gazzetta anticipate that former West Ham United and Stoke City striker Arnautovic will be in Inter training on Friday.
It will still be a couple weeks before Inter’s squad really starts to look complete, however.
Swiss international Yann Sommer will be back in training next Tuesday. The following day will be the turn of Turk Hakan Calhanoglu, another EURO 2024 quarterfinalist.
On the third of August, Inter’s four semifinalists from the Euros will be in training.
That day will see French internationals Marcus Thuram and Benjamin Pavard, and Dutch stars Stefan de Vrij and Denzel Dumfries make their appearance.
Finally, Copa America winners with Argentina Lautaro Martinez and Valentin Carboni will be back on the seventh or eighth of next month.
