Inter Milan showed how robust their squad depth is to see off Udinese in the Coppa Italia round of sixteen.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They suggest that the Nerazzurri’s second string passed a key test with the victory.

Inter are now right in the thick of the busy part of the season.

Every competition is now in full swing. The Nerazzurri are playing every weekend in Serie A, while they’ve also had the Champions League to think of.

Yesterday, Inter kicked off their Coppa Italia campaign.

And at the start of January the Supercoppa Italiana will begin.

This level of fixture density would put a lot of strain on any squad.

And therefore, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has had no choice but to rotate from match to match.

Inter Milan Rely On Robust Squad Depth To See Off Udinese In Coppa Italia

Considering Inter were playing just a couple days after a Serie A clash with Lazio, it was little surprise to see Inzaghi make sweeping changes against Udinese yesterday.

With those changes, there was the risk that Inter would look incoherent or lack some of their usual quality.

But the players Inzaghi went out and did the job.

It was not a straightforward match. Particularly in midfield, Udinese made it a tough match for Inter.

But the players who Inzaghi went with were able to show their quality.

This looks like an important test that Inter’s “second string” have passed.

It certainly won’t be the last. But it’s a very positive sign in view of future matches across different competitions where Inzaghi will need absolutely everyone.
