Inter Milan sealed their longest winning run of the season against Torino, but they’re still not at last season’s level.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter have now won three matches on the bounce.

The Nerazzurri beat Udinese in Serie A last weekend by a scoreline of 3-2. Then, they routed Red Star Belgrade 4-0 in the Champions League.

And yesterday evening, Inter edged out yet another five-goal thriller in Serie A.

A Marcus Thuram hattrick proved decisive in an eventful match against early season high-flyers Torino.

This was certainly how Inter wanted to sign off for the October international break.

And the Nerazzurri needed this kind of a sequence badly. Prior to it, they suffered their biggest setback of the campaign so far in the form of a loss against city rivals AC Milan in the derby.

Inter Milan Seal Winning Run Vs Torino – But Not Yet At Last Season’s Level

Winning their last two league matches, and last three in all competitions, is undeniably positive for Inter.

But in the view of the Corriere, this is still not the team that dominated the Italian top flight last season.

Inter would not have considered a run of two or three victories significant last time around.

The Nerazzurri just seemed to win every weekend.

That was a testament to a real balance to the team. Inter had Serie A’s prolific attack, but it didn’t come at the expense of the defense – where they conceded the fewest goals and kept the most clean sheets.

It is defensively where Inter are still trying to find their feet this season.

The Nerazzurri have conceded two goals in each of their last three matches.

That is simply not sustainable if Inter want to come close to replicating last season’s form.

Inter will have to tighten things up if they’re to go on winning runs of longer than two or three matches.
