Inter Milan and SDY made various online betting news headlines earlier this month when the team announced that they had penned a two-year partnership agreement with SDY Sports.

The deal comes at an opportune time as Italian clubs, such as Inter Milan, are looking to employ other revenue streams as a result of financial complications brought on by the global health crisis experienced this year.

Analysts are concerned about the general dislike that Italians have expressed towards sports betting sponsorship deals in the past, with Inter Milan joining the number of teams that have secured partnership deals with betting sponsors in the last two months.

Terms of The Deal

The deal between Inter Milan and the Asian sports betting partner will result in SDY Sports assets featuring on the LED boards of games that Inte Milan participates in.

The deal limits the marketing strategy for SDY to home games played by the club at the San Siro sporting venue. The agreement includes several other prime digital marketing opportunities for the 2020/21 season that has commenced.

The deal has been described as mutually beneficial with SDY’s sponsorship aiding Inter Milan financially while the association with the well-known soccer club will assist SDY in gaining a greater share of the Asian market.

Serie A has not experienced the same popularity that other football leagues have in Asia. This is mainly due to Italian clubs being unwilling to strike sports betting sponsorship deals with operators.

The increased exposure of this deal, and the similar deals that have been struck with other Serie A clubs, is expected to expose the Asian sports betting market to the league and allow fans to engage more.

Executive Thoughts

Darwin Guo, The CEO of SDY Sports, took to online news platforms to share his thoughts on the deal. Guo started by highlighting the excitement that the SDY team feels at being associated with one of the favoriteSerie A football clubs.

He went on to say that the massive international fanbase of the club will lead to the partnership becoming a great success.

According to Guo, Inter Milan is one of the best soccer clubs in the world right now which is what the company hopes will attract many new clients to their sports betting offers.

He concluded by saying that the company is looking forward to creating exclusive betting offerings to service Nerazzurri fans with the team and club.

One Of Many

The deal between Inter Milan and SDY is not the first, or the last, of it’s kind for the Italian football industry. Italian Football clubs are expected to become as big as American leagues, with more and more sponsorship deals.

Analysts expect that big names in online gambling such as Betway Casino and Sports operator and William Hill, who both have an outstanding online casino product on offer, will make their way to these European Leagues.

As it stands, La Liga has recently inked an agreement that spans four years with M88. Last month AC Milan signed a three-year agreement with Yobo Sports. AC Milan has the second-largest following in China and has run into financial issues over the last 12 months.

The deal with Yobo Sports is intended to increase the revenue of the club. Other Italian teams such as Bologna are partnering with JBO and Lazio has signed a similar agreement with HQ Bets, an Asian sports betting sponsorship provider and operator.

According to industry analysts, the Italian football industry has become hot property for major sports betting providers in Asia, which is likely to attract even more internationally recognized operators over the next few seasons.

The titleholders of Serie A, Juventus, have signed on with 10Bet as their official sports partner.
