Inter Milan waved to Juventus in the distance in the title race with their Serie A rout of Salernitana yesterday.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The Corriere highlight the now-ten-point gap in the Nerazzurri’s favour.

For a few more hours at least, Inter and Juventus are on the same number of matches this season.

The Nerazzurri have played 24 matches, whilst the Bianconeri will make it 25 later today.

And at the moment, the gap between the two teams is ten points.

That is a significant number. It marks the first time this season that Inter have had a double-digit advantage at the top of the table.

This fact illustrates the fact that the Nerazzurri now have a real margin for error.

Whilst Juventus have had their first prolonged down period of the season, with a draw against Empoli and a loss to Udinese bookending their loss in the Derby d’Italia, Inter do not look like slowing down.

Inter Say “Goodbye Juventus” With Salernitana Rout

Salernitana were never going to be the team who Juventus were counting on to take points off Inter this season.

The Granata have endured a miserable season so far. They are on their third coach of the campaign, with just thirteen points so far.

And travelling to the San Siro, Salernitana were playing their toughest away match remaining this season, at least on paper.

But of course, anything can happen.

Salernitana will have been absolutely full of motivation.

And whether it would be a great goalkeeping performance by Guillermo Ochoa, a couple lethal counterattack, or an unexpected tactical tweak by new coach Fabio Liverani, there could have been routes to a shock result for the Campanian team.

But it was not to be the case.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi fielded a strong team. The Nerazzurri looked like a well-oiled machine executing the coach’s tactics.

The 4-0 scoreline didn’t flatter Inter at all.

And it was another match in which Juventus were forced to watch their title rivals speed off into the distance.
