Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck clarified his international ambitions after falling victim to an online prank.
During a comprehensive interview with Sport Bild via FCInterNews, the 24-year-old admitted he dreams of playing for Germany.
Despite representing Germany at youth level, Bisseck has yet to receive his maiden call-up for the senior squad.
Someone decided to add insult to injury, sending the Inter center-back a fake email.
Misled by the email’s content, Bisseck believed the German Football Federation wanted him to join Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
However, that bizarre stunt nearly made the ex-Aarhus youngster abandon his desire to play for Die Mannschaft.
After wild speculation around his international future, Bisseck felt the urge to make things straight.
Bisseck has earned a more prominent role in Simone Inzaghi’s set-up this season.
Therefore, he naturally hopes to attract Nagelsmann’s attention.
“When I opened my phone and heard a voice say ‘Hi, I’m Julian Nagelsmann,’ it was an incredible feeling,” Bisseck admitted.
“I thought, ‘Incredible! The national team coach knows my name!’ That’s huge, and I’m very happy about it.
“I appreciate it enormously; it’s a great sign of respect.”
However, Bisseck acknowledges the magnitude of the task.
Indeed, he knows how difficult it could be for him to break into Nagelsmann’s star-studded squad.
“There are outstanding defenders in the national team. I have a lot to prove to deserve that spot,” he maintained.
“But I firmly believe in it.”
Bisseck also admitted that partnering with Real Madrid ace Antonio Rudiger would be ‘a dream come true.’
“Defending with Antonio Rüdiger in the national team would be my absolute dream.
“He is my role model, and I would love to have his aggression.
“With him, opponents think before the match starts, ‘Oh no, I don’t want to face him today.’
“That’s the mentality I want to have when I face my opponents.”
