Inter Milan are reportedly keen to part ways with in-demand Denzel Dumfries in the summer to retain the services of Federico Dimarco.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Italians have put the Netherlands international up for sale following his decline under Simone Inzaghi, and hope to earn around €50 million from his departure.

Dumfries excelled at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, soaking up the limelight as one of the best-performing wing-backs at the tournament, only to tumble down the pecking order at Inter in the aftermath.

Despite his prominent role in the Middle East, the Dutchman has lost his starting berth at Giuseppe Meazza, with Inzaghi replacing him with former Manchester United flop Matteo Darmian.

And while Dumfries’ career in Serie A has taken a downward curve, his fellow wing-back comrade Dimarco has enjoyed a rise to stardom on the opposite flank.

Since coming back from an impressive season-long loan at Hellas Verona in the summer of 2021, the 25-year-old has gone from strength to strength, nailing down a left-back position as his own.

Dimarco’s phenomenal showings for Inter have not gone unnoticed, with La Liga heavyweights Atletico Madrid adding him to their wishlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

But even though Inter’s precarious financial situation forces them to consider offloading some first-team stars to raise funds, they seem unwilling to give up on Dimarco.

Instead, they will be looking to sell Premier League-linked Dumfries to the highest bidder to balance the books after Inzaghi deemed the 26-year-old surplus to requirements.

Although her late push in January fell flat, several English clubs are still interested in offering the former PSV Eindhoven man an escape route from Inter.
