The summer is still a few months away. But already the transfer rumours are starting to swirl around.

And for Inter Milan, perhaps none has been as strong as those to Como midfielder Nico Paz.

The Argentine, who joined Como from Real Madrid last summer, has certainly been one of the outstanding young players in Serie A this season.

And this has led Inter to see Paz as a major target. Buy all accounts, the Nerazzurri are dreaming of signing the 20-year-old. They see him as perfect for Simone Inzaghi’s team.

However, there will be plenty of obstacles in the way of a move for Paz.

For one thing, Como will hardly want to sell him. And for another, Real Madrid have a buyback clause to sign him back from the Lariani.

“So it would be quite a difficult path to sign him,” Marotta admitted.

“Secondly, he’s an excellent player,” the Inter President continued. “But we also have to acknowledge that we have a competitive squad.”

“We’re focused on the competitions we have to play for in the next few months,” Marotta said.

“So we’ll get to the transfer market when the time comes.”

Meanwhile, Marotta also gave his thoughts on Inter’s match against Feyenoord this evening.

“The team are aware of how to deal with adversity,” he said. “Like on Sunday against Monza.”

“This evening, we can’t rest on the result from the first leg. We know that the Champions League is competitive.”

“Top teams participate in it,” the Nerazzurri President said of the Champions League.

“We have to have the right respect for it, but also the belief that we can get to the next round.”

“There were some minor legaal details that we had to settle between the two clubs,” Marotta said. “And we resolved them.”

“We submitted the poposal to buy it, we’re happy.”

Marotta called this “an extraordinary act.”

“The clubs will contribute to the development of the city. It’s something extraordinary.”

“On our end, Oaktree’s determination was important,” explained the Nerazzurri explained. “They considered it important for us to focus on this asset for the city, the club, and our brilliant fans.”

And as far as the idea of renovating the existing San Siro, Marotta said that “it will be entirely new stadium.”

“In Italy there’s still a gap in this respect with other clubs in Europe. We here in Milan are trying to kickstart something that can also happen with many clubs.”
