Inter Milan could push to sign Udinese defender Jaka Bijol as ealy as during the January transfer window.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
The links between Inter and Bijol have been growing stronger.
Udinese Sporting Director Gianluca Nani has confirmed that the Nerazzurri are targeting the Slovenian.
And it is not very hard to see why.
Inter are definitely going to sign a central defender by the start of next season.
The aim would be to sign a younger replacement for veterans like Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij.
And Bijol would check all of Inter’s boxes in that respect.
Bijol is now in his third season at Udinese, having joined from CSKA Moscow in 2022.
The 25-year-old has looked right at home in Serie A.
Moreover, Bijol has specialized in the central position in a back three. That makes him a natural heir to Acerbi and de Vrij.
Like that ex-Lazio duo, Bijol uses his physicality as well as anticipation to marshal the penalty area and man-mark opposition strikers.
Therefore, Inter are very likely to make an attempt to sign the Slovenian international.
And according to Tuttosport, that attempt could come as soon as next month.
Udinese could be willing to part ways with Bijol in January, precisely because that is when they are set to sign former Red Bull Salzburg defender Oumar Solet.
