Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij will have some medical tests on Friday to determine the extent of his recent knock.

The Dutchman entered the pitch in the second half of last night’s friendly contest against Al-Ittihad. He replaced Francesco Acerbi in the 63rd minute.

But unfortunately for the 32-year-old, his cameo at the U-Power Stadium culminated in an injury.

Earlier reports indicated a problem in the left thigh, while the player told the medical staff that he heard something tweak.

Therefore, the early indications haven’t been encouraging for the Nerazzurri.

And yet, Simone Inzaghi and Co will hold their breath a bit further before receiving official updates.

According to FcInterNews, de Vrij will undergo medical tests tomorrow to shed some light on his condition.

The Nerazzurri will be hoping that the player avoids an injury that keeps him out of action for weeks or more.

The Italian champions have already had their fair share of muscular problems in pre-season.

Mehdi Taremi, Piotr Zielinski and Marko Arnautovic have all sustained injuries in previous friendly encounters.

The three players all missed yesterday’s contest in Monza which ended with a 2-0 victory in favor of Al-Ittihad. This proved to be Inter’s first defeat in pre-season following three wins and one draw.

Inter still have one last friendly test against Chelsea. The encounter will ensue this Sunday at the Stamford Bridge.

Afterward, Inzaghi’s men will turn their attention to their Serie A opener against Genoa on August 17th.

Nevertheless, the manager will be hoping to have de Vrij and the other injured stars at his disposal by the time he heads to the Luigi Ferraris.
