Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries admits that hamstring problems held him back last season.

Speaking ahead of the Netherlands’ EURO 2024 round of sixteen match against Romania, via FCInterNews, the 28-year-old added that he feels he’s at “100%” now.

Wingback Dumfries remained a regular starter for Inter last season.

However, the Dutchman did not have a guaranteed place in the lineup by any means.

Particularly in the big matches, it was often former Manchester United and Torino veteran Matteo Darmian who got the node over Dumfries.

And the sense was that some physical problems played a role in that.

Dumfries had a couple of spells out on the sidelines with injury. But these only caused the former PSV wingback to miss a few weeks at a time.

Nevertheless, when Dumfries was available, he was not always able to perform at his best.

In terms of his pace, explosiveness, and stamina, Dumfries had several matches where he did not put his stamp on them the way that he can when he’s at his best.

Denzel Dumfries: “Dealt With Injuries Last Season, Now I’m At 100%”

Asked if he felt that injuries had limited his impact and playing time last season, Dumfries replied “I had a season that didn’t quite live up to expectations.”

“Then, the coach makes his decisions.”

And then asked whether he had visited a specialist in groin injuries, Dumfries confirmed “No. I haven’t been having any groin problems lately.”

“It was the hamstring that was a problem.”

“But now I’m at 100%,” the Dutchman added.

“I want to look forward.”

Dumfries is currently at a bit of a crossroads at Inter. This is the result of his contract situation.

The Nerazzurri reportedly want to either extend the 28-year-old’s deal, or else sell him this summer.

However, Dumfries has confirmed that he wants to stay at Inter.
