Inter went ahead through a brilliantly-taken Federico Dimarco goal from long range early in the second half of today’s match.

That followed a first half in which the Nerazzurri had had the majority of the ball, but never really raised the tempo.

After Dimarco’s goal, Inter did look to create a few more chances to extend their lead. But they were not able to be clinical with any of them.

And Empoli created some opportunities of their own, although they were only half-chances.

In the final minutes of the match, an injury to striker Marko Arnautovic meant that Inter had to play with ten men.

And Empoli did use their numerical advantage to stage a late assault on the Nerazzurri goal.

But Inter held firm, seeing out the 1-0 win and taking three points back to Milano.

Inter Midfielder Davide Frattesi “Dreaming” After Dimarco Opener Vs Empoli

After the match Frattesi said that when Dimarco’s goal went in, “I thought, ‘I’m dreaming.'”

“He scored an insane goal!” the midfielder said of his teammate’s effort.

“Dimarco is capable of moments like that. I was in disbelief!”

And of what Dimarco has done to help him fit in at Inter, Frattesi said that “There’s no one better for it than him. He’s a guy whose passion for the club you can see deep inside him.”

Of making his full debut for Inter, Frattesi said that “It’s a great feeling.”

“I could have done more, especially in front of goal,” he continued.

Of seeing out the result after a tough final stretch down to ten men, Frattesi admitted that “I couldn’t wait for the final whistle to blow.”

And of the biggest difference between playing at Sassuolo and at Inter, the 24-year-old said “Definitely the to win every single match.”

“The opposing teams shut up shop. But that’s normal, because Inter try to dominate matches.”
