Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has outlined the club’s ambition to climb to the top of the UEFA Champions League.

During his recent interview with Amazon Prime, as reported by FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri boss also discussed the newly formatted league phase.

Inter’s European credentials are about to be severely tested.

Mikel Arteta’s injury-hit Arsenal side will touch down at Giuseppe Meazza tonight for a mouth-watering fixture.

With both teams boasting an identical record after the opening three rounds, it has all the makings of a qualification six-pointer.

However, Inter seem to be in far better shape than their opposition.

Indeed, the Italians head into proceedings having won seven of their last eight matches across all competitions.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have only won once on their last five travels.

Therefore, the reigning Serie A holders have every reason for optimism, though Inzaghi calls for caution.

“There’s not much room for calculations; we approach each game one at a time. This is our sixth match in eighteen days,” Inzaghi said.

“I’ll have to make very careful choices to field the best line-up, especially considering we’re up against a team of the highest caliber.”

Inzaghi discussed Hakan Calhanoglu’s return after a two-week spell on the sidelines.

“We know him and know what he represents for us,” the Inter boss stated.

“He returned on Sunday, playing a solid half hour, with both quality and quantity.

“It’s only been a short time since the match with Venezia, but after the last training session, things will be clearer.

“He and Acerbi are key returns, and we should have everyone available except Carlos Augusto, Correa, and Palacios,” he added.

“Our goal is always to advance as far as possible in every competition, and we’ll give our all in every match.”

Inzaghi also addressed the potential of becoming the Inter version of Sir Alex Ferguson.

“We know it’s very difficult in our football” he admitted.

“But I’m very happy at Inter and I’m trying to follow my path in the best way, as I did at Lazio.

“I feel at home, I’m comfortable in this environment.

“I’m becoming ‘big,’ but the goal is always to win as many matches as possible.”
